"£19m boost to improve Dorset’s roads"

The Highways Industry shared the news that "Dorset recieved a £19m boost to look after its roads. The funding will come from central government and is for the financial year 2017/18.

Dorset County Council said it’s not enough to address all the issues on the road network in the county, but that the cash will go towards carriageway repairs, pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, and improvements to roads and bridges.

The Department for Transport (DfT) yesterday confirmed this year’s grant to the county council’s highways service – Dorset Highways – which includes being awarded ‘Band 3’ status, meaning Dorset will receive additional funding for maintenance activities each year up to 2021 – amounting to £8m over the next four years."
