A Local Authority is seeking a Commercial Lead to join its Commercial Team and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the Digital & IT procurement strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement and contract management specialist to lead and develop short, medium, and long-term procurement strategies, ensuring best value and efficiency across Digital & IT services.
The Role
As Commercial Lead – Digital & IT, you will be responsible for:- Procurement Strategy & Governance – Leading procurement, contract negotiations, and supplier management in alignment with commissioning governance.
- Contract Lifecycle Management – Overseeing the complete lifecycle of Digital & IT contracts, ensuring compliance with service plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Working closely with internal and external partners to ensure value for money (VFM) and drive contract performance for Kingston and Sutton Councils' shared IT service.
- Market Management – Analysing the IT market, identifying trends, and ensuring the council’s procurement strategies remain competitive and forward-thinking.
- Leadership & Performance Management – Driving the delivery of the Digital & IT service plan, fostering collaboration, and implementing innovative ways of working.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should have:- Proven commercial expertise within procurement, contract, and supplier management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge of the IT market and public sector procurement legislation.
- Experience in contract and performance management, ensuring compliance and best practice.
- CIPS Level 3 qualification or 5+ years of experience in purchasing IT solutions.
