Rate: £458 per day (umbrella)

A North London Local Authority is seeking a skilled and experienced Internal Audit Investigator to join its small and friendly Internal Audit Investigations team. This is a critical role supporting the implementation of the Council’s Anti-Fraud Strategy and Whistleblowing Policy.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct proactive and reactive fraud investigations, including whistleblowing cases.
• Work closely with the Head of Internal Audit and Audit Manager Investigations to ensure effective delivery of the Council’s anti-fraud initiatives.
• Gather evidence, take witness statements, interview suspects, and prepare cases for court or other hearings.
• Plan and manage investigations from inception to conclusion, delivering high-quality outputs.

Qualifications:

• Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS) qualification or equivalent (e.g., PIP Level 2).

• Alternatively, proven track record of relevant experience in a similar investigative role.

Experience & Skills:

• Expertise in investigative methods, relevant legislation, and processes.
• Experience in taking witness statements, interviewing suspects, and giving evidence at court or hearings is essential.
• Ability to manage investigations end-to-end and produce detailed, high-quality reports.
