We are looking for a Team Leader to manage a team of 3-4 Research Analysts within the Transportation sector (Railways). This is an opportunity to work with one of the major players in the governance of the railways, where your research ideas and projects will have a material and lasting impact on the UK’s infrastructure for generations.

As a Lead Research Analyst, you will bring together stakeholders and industry leaders, developing and reviewing research proposals, and justifying the costs and outcomes of these projects. You will engage external consultancies to carry out the research and oversee the programme and project management, ensuring the delivery meets key milestones.

The gravitas of this organisation within the rail industry means you will have access to key industry figures, technical interest groups, and internal stakeholders, providing a unique platform to influence the future of railways.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in research and data analysis and, more importantly, excellent management and stakeholder engagement skills. While technical knowledge across all areas of the railways is not required, you will work closely with some of the industry’s most senior technical experts to guide and deliver impactful research.

Research topics span a diverse range, including:
• Engineering and Infrastructure Maintenance
• Human Factors
• Train Operations and Safety Risk Management
• Sustainability and Environmental Impact Reduction
• Digital Railway Systems
• Passenger Experience

Key areas of focus include advancements in signalling technology, track maintenance, cybersecurity, renewable energy integration, automation, accessibility improvements, climate change resilience, freight operations, and data-driven decision-making.

Your ability to lead and support others will be the key to success in this role, enabling the team to excel in research delivery. It’s not about having technical knowledge in every subset of rail operations but about fostering collaboration, ensuring high-quality outputs, and driving impactful projects. You might be a Research Project Manager, or Strategic Analyst from comparable sectors in transportation.

It's a hybrid role, where you decide the amount of office work, it is suggested that 2 days in London, works really well, but it would genuinely be done to you to decide once settled in.
