Payroll Officer
Location: North London/Hybrid
Rate: £25.44 per hour (Umbrella)
A North London Local Authority is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to support and, at times, lead the end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring that all stages of payroll operations are completed efficiently and in accordance with statutory regulations and council policies. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong payroll experience in a Local Government setting to join a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Operations:
- Assist and lead in managing the full payroll cycle, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Maintain compliance with statutory regulations, including tax and national insurance requirements, as well as council policies.
- Advisory Role:
- Provide advice to employees on occupational pension schemes and payroll-related inquiries.
- Support the team in pension scheme payroll administration, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- System and Data Management:
- Accurately input and retrieve data from specialist payroll systems, managing large data sets with precision.
- Use complex computerised payroll systems effectively in a large organisational setting, covering all aspects of payroll.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Expert Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of payroll systems, taxation, and national insurance rules.
- Proven experience in delivering payroll services within a large organisation, ideally in a Local Government context.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Skilled in using complex computerised payroll systems within a similar-sized organisation.
